The challenge

An elderly tribal farmer, eligible for the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana but excluded from it, had no way to navigate the registration process alone — missing documents, no digital access, no one to follow it through to completion.

The intervention

A Jan Saathi identified her as eligible, verified and corrected her documents, completed her digital registration, coordinated with the village Patwari for verification, and followed up until the application was approved.

The impact

Sonaa Bai received her first PM-Kisan instalment directly into her bank account — securing her long-term, sustained inclusion in the scheme, and reducing her dependence on irregular wage labour.
