Why it Matters
Soil is thinning, water tables are dropping, biodiversity is disappearing - and farms, certifications, and individual projects, despite real effort, haven't been able to reverse it alone. The reason isn't lack of will; it's scale - degradation crosses farm boundaries, but the response hasn't. Smallholder vulnerability, environmental risk, and market shifts are now moving faster than fragmented action can absorb. What's needed is coordinated landscape governance - farmers, government, business, and civil society acting jointly under one shared MRV framework - so outcomes are tracked, verified, and traceable across the whole landscape, not just within it.
About RPLC
RPLC is how that governance gets built.
The Regenerative Production Landscape Collaborative (RPLC) is a multi-stakeholder initiative launched in 2021, bringing together farmers, communities, businesses, and governments to reimagine how people, nature, and the economy can align - at the scale of a landscape, not a single farm as we understand Farm-level certification can't produce the landscape-level evidence regulators and buyers now expect.
RPLC aims to scale a model where:
- Producers grow agri-commodities using regenerative principles that restore ecosystems
- Farmers and communities gain economic stability, stronger livelihoods, and a real voice in decision-making
- Businesses secure long-term, responsible, and sustainable supply chains
- Governments channel policy and public investment behind the models that prove they work
